Byproducts
At Breen's Lumber, we make the most of every log we saw. Alongside the lumber, the milling and planing processes produce a variety of wood byproducts that can be put to practical use rather than going to waste.
What is Rough Cut Lumber?
Rough cut lumber is wood that has been sawn to side without undergoing the additional planing process to make a smooth, finished surface. Unlike dressed lumber, it retains its saw marks and full dimensions.

Shavings
Wood shavings are produced during the planing process. Their light fluffy texture makes them useful for animal bedding and other applications.
Wood Chips
Wood chips are produced as part of our sawmill operations and can be used for landscaping, ground cover and other applications.
Bark
Bark is removed from logs during the milling process and can be used for landscaping, garden beds and natural ground cover. It helps retain soil moisture, suppress weeds and protect exposed soil while gradually breaking down over time.
